Afghan girl - The image taken by Steve McCurry, actually has produced an inspiration for Jet Fynn's wedding portrait photography. The eyes, especially the eyes of the girl tells a story by itself.
One is taken during an Afghan war and we contrast it with a shot taken on a happy occasion, a wedding.
Both have mesmerising eyes which fascinates us. That's where the similarities ends.
Every culture's wedding ceremonies is unique already with their own customs and traditions. For example an Indian wedding will have many similarities across all the Indian traditions and yet it's their sub-culture's customs which makes them stand out individually, thus we are able to differentiate which sub-culture they belong to. The milk bathing ceremony is practiced by Ceylonese Indians, they are from Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, an island just at the south of India. It takes place very early at home of the groom before they just before they start the journey to the temple proper to perform the wedding ceremony. Blessings from elders are a must to ensure good fortunes and well being of the groom. We at Jet Fynn Photography have done plenty of these. Thanks to the environment that we are operating in - Malaysia, Truly Asia!
At times, our work gives us a lot of interesting situations where we need to think fast and execute the shot with precise lighting in order to get the exposure correct. To top that off, we need to communicate with the clients who are inside the car and can't really hear us..... Then again, when the results come out like this. We are happy!
After being a wedding photographer for so many years, one can think they have seen it all. Trust me, there will be days where something new or something interesting out of the ordinary will happen. In fact, every wedding has it's differences here or there subjective to the culture concern but this one is one which beats them all! In any chinese wedding, in fact all weddings, the wedding couple usually follows a certain tradition when it comes to wedding attire. The groom will wear a coat, a tuxedo or for the more traditional ones, perhaps a traditional chinese coat. Surprise, SURPRISE! When it came to this one the groom had other ideas..... which came as a surprise to almost all of us! Wearing only a jacket, "pagoda" t-shirt clad in jeans and casual shoes holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers to woo the bride. The bride is of course looking her best in her full wedding gown waiting for her 'knight' in shining armour....err until he came, looking like the above......
