At Jet Fynn Photography Studio, customers at times have special requests to include "family" in their wedding photos. Well, dogs are "family" right? The timing of this shot was just right and we only did a few takes to get this though its actually quite challenging. The doggie was a bit scared of the flashing lights but then this is a wrap.......

Indian weddings are always a colourful affair with an avalanche of colours coming from all directions so much so that the white balance is always a challenge to cover.  

Weddings involves a lot of people especially family members who have seen at least one the couple from young until they are finally married. The tea ceremony is a culmination of all the blessings from the elders by accepting the gesture of the tea. At times, in fact, most of the time, the joys of the elders in seeing that the couple is tying the knot makes them feel so overjoyed that they cannot hide the fact even if they tried. The first dish of any chinese wedding dinner is always almost completely consumed and forgotten. Whether it tastes good or not might or might not be remembered as many would agree that they are very hungry and will eat anything! That's the reaction I have always managed to shoot as the groom usually wasn't expecting this coming. (Then I would have made a pact with the bride and her entourage of bridesmaids and friends) Natural reaction to a statement, a joke tends to lighten things up and the photographer in charge will be able to get the shots that he wanted. As an actual day photographer, there is always the challenge of doing something out of the ordinary and try to be produce better images for clients and yet, maintain a certain unique qualities that is consistent with the vision of the photographer's style. One of them is the contrasting elements in the photo. To many, it's like yin & yang, black and white, patterns and rhythm. Balance is the key. In an Indian wedding when the couple goes back home after the temple ceremony, the family members will ask the couple for a small "toll" as an inducement for then to unlock and open the door. The amount may not be much actually and the token amount is shared amongst themselves. Sometimes the groom has his own ideas to have fun during these times (The Groom Whisperer a.k.a. The Photographer) also "helps" a bit in the games. The photos will have some form of a nice storyline to share in the future. As for us, the Jet Fynn Photography team based here in Ipoh has always prodded clients to have fun and have a great time during their weddings. Traditional games that the bride's "sisters" play on the groom and his entourage usually comes with a simple theme that tries to measure the love the groom has for his bride. Then again, nowadays many of the are inspired too much by the social media until certain games are done in bad taste which tend to humiliate rather than to give a challenge. (That, we leave to another post later with pics.....) We as photographers at times are precision shooters I must say as there are times we really must aim and shoot like a sniper that we see in movies where 1 shot means it must hit the target or else that moment will be gone forever! Experienced photographers who aim to achieve that goal are hard to come by actually as compared to the many GWC's out there. One of the churches that we have always loved to shoot in is the  Church of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Ipoh Garden. The church's interior is rather classic with challenging lighting situations and of course, the certain rules for the photographer who wants to use flash. Then again, our job is to shoot the moments and we have to tackle these challenges head on without the rules breaking our spirit. Since we are professional photographers doing our job, we cannot tell our clients the situation does not permit us to be at our best. We have to make do with whatever situations that comes to us and able to deliver as well. One thing about weddings, there has never been a wedding that is the same and these are the things that spurs us further and gives us the adrenalin push to achieve higher. One of the joys of being a wedding photographer is to work in wee hours on an actual day wedding when everyone is still practically asleep. The other person would be the make up artist who would arrive at least half an hour to one hour earlier than us......   We have been doing these for years and come to think of it, we still LOVED to do it! Usually at Registration of Marriage or more commonly known as ROM, it is a private affair where only the close relatives and friends attend. At times, we saw something interesting that is about to happen and we have to make decisions fast to capture that moment in time. It may not be perfectly sharp or perfect and yet the moment is truly priceless! In many cultures like the Chinese, groom may have to give an ang pow to enter the house. It is also practiced in Indian cultures as well. Usually the groom would like to get away with paying the least and the people guarding the door would the demand the highest possible. So, let the negotiations begin! (By the way, the negotiation part is very interesting. The picture below we believe says it all for the intentions of the groom!) All of the cultures here in Malaysia believes in getting married. In fact, all cultures everywhere in the world encourages people to get married. It's just the customs, traditions and time of the wedding that takes place varies. We are lucky in the sense that Malaysia, is after all Truly Asia! One of the unique ones in Malaysia are the Indians. Sometimes their auspicious time is actually 4 A.M. when most of us are all soundly asleep!
